The data behind this page: 27 operator reviews of Yotpo’s apps (13 for Product Reviews & UGC, 10 for Loyalty & Rewards, 4 for Subscriptions and Email & SMS) · 67% very satisfied · 89% still using. Plus 181 reviews of the alternatives below. All collected from verified operators in the app store research network between January 2024 and July 2026.
Yotpo’s reviews app keeps the operators who use it. All 13 who reviewed it in our network still run it, and 10 of them have for more than three years. What makes them look around is cost: five of the 13 bring it up, and two say the price is hard on a smaller store.
So this isn’t a ranking of apps that beat Yotpo. It covers why operators look elsewhere, where the ones who moved went, how the usual review and loyalty alternatives rate with the operators who run them, and the one job operators still pick Yotpo for.
Quick answers
What is the best Yotpo alternative for Shopify? In our network, Judge.me is the reviews app operators lean on for price. It has 77 reviews and 86% are very satisfied. Two of its reviewers say it beats Yotpo on a specific point, and a third moved over from Yotpo.
Is there a free alternative to Yotpo? Yes. Judge.me’s free plan lists unlimited reviews, including photo and video reviews. Loox is free up to 500 orders, and Smile’s loyalty program is free up to 200 monthly orders. Yotpo has free plans too, capped at 50 monthly orders for reviews and under 100 for loyalty.
Do operators leave Yotpo? Rarely. 24 of the 27 reviewers still use the Yotpo app they reviewed, including all 13 reviews users. The three who left describe a loyalty outage, a subscriptions migration that went badly, and SMS templates they found limited.
What can replace Yotpo Loyalty? Smile is the most-reviewed loyalty app in our network, with 30 reviews, and all 30 operators still use it. One owner who compared the two prefers Smile’s interface.
When does it make sense to stay on Yotpo? When you syndicate reviews to retailers. One operator moved from Judge.me to Yotpo for retail review syndication, and an Okendo user says syndication was easier on Yotpo for wholesale-heavy brands.
Why do operators look for Yotpo alternatives?

Cost comes first. Five of the 13 Yotpo Reviews users mention it, more than any other complaint. Some still think it pays off:
“an expensive review option but I still think it’s a good value” (Owner, verified ASR review)
For smaller stores the math is harder. One owner says pricing is steep for smaller stores, and another found no tier that fit between free and paid:
“The monthly subscription cost was too great for us as a small business.” (Owner, verified ASR review)
The App Store listing shows why the bill moves. Yotpo Reviews is free up to 50 monthly orders, Starter starts at $15 a month and Pro at $119, and both paid plans change price with order volume. Google Seller Rating sits on Pro. The one reviews user who isn’t satisfied adds that Google integration meant upgrading and signing a longer contract.
The other complaints are about help and fit. Three of the 13 want more from support: one misses having a customer success manager to review strategy, one waited days for a reply on a change, and one felt the free plan got lower priority. Two want widgets that match their theme more closely, and one works around review scripts that load late and shift the page.
On the loyalty side, the 10 Yotpo Loyalty reviews are more mixed: six very satisfied, three neutral and one not satisfied. Their complaints range from glitches and slow one-to-one service to a rewards landing page that’s hard to customize.
Do operators leave Yotpo?
Mostly, no. 24 of the 27 reviewers still use the Yotpo app they reviewed. Seven of the 13 reviews users call it critical to their job, and four single out support or their account reps.
“I have great reps that are supportive” (Operations, verified ASR review)
The three who left each had a specific breaking point:
Loyalty & Rewards (1): the service was down for almost three weeks and customers couldn’t redeem rewards, so the owner started switching.
Subscriptions (1): a migration the owner says the business never recovered from, with churn and support tickets both up.
Email & SMS (1): called it solid overall but wanted more template options and deeper reporting.
Yotpo Loyalty still holds on to nine of its 10 reviewers. Subscriptions and Email & SMS have two reviews each, so read those as single stories rather than ratings.
Where do operators go when they leave Yotpo?

Nine reviews of other apps in our network mention Yotpo, and they point both ways.
Toward the alternatives: one Judge.me user moved reviews over from Yotpo with help from Judge.me’s team, two other Judge.me users say it beats Yotpo on a specific point, and a Smile user prefers Smile to Yotpo’s loyalty app.
“The free version allows users to post pictures unlike Yotpo.” (Owner, verified ASR review)
Toward Yotpo: one operator left Judge.me for Yotpo because of syndication, and another moved from Klaviyo Reviews to Yotpo.
“caused us to upgrade to Yotpo for retail review syndication” (Owner, verified ASR review)
An Okendo user who works with wholesale-heavy brands adds that review syndication was easier with Yotpo. If retailers show your reviews, that’s the feature to test first in any alternative.

These are the entry prices listed on the Shopify App Store as of October 28, 2026. Judge.me is the only app here whose paid plan isn’t tied to monthly order volume on its listing, so price your own volume before you compare.

1. Judge.me: if price is the reason
Judge.me is the most-reviewed reviews app in our network, and price is a big reason operators pick it. More than a third of the 77 mention the price, the value or the free plan, and 72 still use it.
The free plan covers a lot on its own. The listing includes unlimited reviews, photo and video reviews, Google reviews sync, rich snippets and a reviews importer. The paid Awesome plan is $15 a month with a 15-day trial, and adds AI replies and summaries, 130+ integrations including Klaviyo, coupons and referrals, and CSS design control.
The trade-off is how far you can style it. 17 of the 77 raise widget or email design, from too few options to changes that need code, and several find the admin busy. Of the five who stopped using it, one moved to Okendo for UGC and custom attributes, and one moved to Yotpo for syndication.
ASR rating: 86% very satisfied · 77 reviews · 94% still using
What operators love: a free plan that does most of the job; automated review requests; quick setup; fast support; Google syncs. Common concerns: widget and email design limits without CSS; an admin that can feel crowded; patchy Klaviyo and social integrations; review rates some find low.
“It just works, and it works well, at a great price point” (Owner, verified ASR review)
On the App Store it holds a 5.0 rating from more than 48,000 reviews. If you want help moving reviews over, shopexperts lists Judge.me experts.
2. Loox: if photo and video reviews are the point
Loox has the happiest users of any reviews app in our data: all 23 are very satisfied, and 22 still use it. Six single out photo and video reviews, and several praise the automated review requests.
The catch is price as you grow. Five of the 23 mention cost, one calling it expensive for bigger stores, and five want more ways to customize how reviews display. Two miss live chat support.
ASR rating: 100% very satisfied · 23 reviews · 96% still using
What operators love: photo and video reviews; automated requests timed after delivery; a polished display that doesn’t slow the site; quick setup. Common concerns: cost at higher order volumes; limited display customization; no live chat support.
“The photo/video reviews add real social proof without feeling gimmicky.” (E-commerce Manager, verified ASR review)
The listing shows a 4.9 rating from more than 9,700 reviews. The free plan lists up to 500 orders, Convert is $49.99 a month with 300 orders included and $50 for each extra 300, and Unlimited is $299.99 a month. For a three-way breakdown, see our Yotpo vs Loox vs Judge.me comparison.
3. Okendo: if you want reviews and loyalty from one vendor
Okendo is the closest match to Yotpo’s all-in-one setup. Its App Store listing is now called Okendo: Reviews & Loyalty, and its reviewers mention loyalty, referrals, quizzes and surveys alongside reviews. All 14 still use it.
They like how far the displays can be branded, the custom attributes that show details such as sizing, and the Klaviyo integration, which three of the 14 call out. Cost is the main concern: three find it pricey, and one says every meeting with the team turns into an upsell.
ASR rating: 79% very satisfied · 14 reviews · 100% still using
What operators love: branded displays and custom attributes; the Klaviyo integration; loyalty, referral, quiz and survey add-ons; helpful service. Common concerns: price and upsells; more to learn than simpler apps; product grouping on large catalogs; review emails that lean on Klaviyo or Okendo’s own system.
“It is simply the better product over the competition we used.” (E-commerce Manager, verified ASR review)
On the App Store it has a 4.8 rating from more than 1,400 reviews. Reviews is free up to 50 orders a month, then $19, $119 or $299 a month for 200, 1,500 or 3,500 orders, each with a 14-day trial. shopexperts lists Okendo experts for imports and setup.
4. Smile: if you’re replacing Yotpo Loyalty
Smile is the most-reviewed loyalty app in our network, and nobody in our data has left it: all 30 still use it. Operators keep coming back to how fast it is to set up, and several praise the support team.
Satisfaction is softer than retention. 53% are very satisfied, and the complaints cluster: six want more control over branding, and eight mention price or features held back for higher plans. Three say customers struggle to find or spend their points, and three have run into referral codes being misused.
ASR rating: 53% very satisfied · 30 reviews · 100% still using
What operators love: quick setup; points, VIP tiers and referrals in one app; responsive support; a free plan that covers the basics; the Klaviyo integration. Common concerns: limited branding; key features on higher plans; customers confused by points; referral misuse.
“better UX and UI than yotpo rewards” (Owner, verified ASR review)
The listing shows 4.9 from more than 4,600 reviews. It’s free up to 200 monthly orders, then Essential at $15, Standard at $79 and Growth at $199 a month, with 14-day trials. Yotpo Loyalty is free under 100 monthly orders, and its Pro plan is $199 a month with per-order charges from 500 orders.
Our Smile vs Yotpo vs Growave comparison puts the two side by side, and shopexperts lists Smile experts for moving members and points balances.
What about Stamped, REVIEWS.io, Klaviyo Reviews and Growave?
Our best Shopify review apps guide ranks the full field. Here’s what operators say about four more names that come up next to Yotpo.
Stamped also pairs reviews with loyalty, but its reviewers are the least happy in this group: 3 of 12 very satisfied and 9 still using. They describe glitches when replying to reviews, slow pages and a cost that stopped looking competitive. One Judge.me user switched from Stamped, and another says Judge.me doesn’t glitch the way Stamped did.
REVIEWS.io has 9 reviews (small sample). Seven are very satisfied, and two praise the support team. Three raise cost, and one says its reviews aren’t crawlable for search or AI tools.
Klaviyo Reviews suits stores already on Klaviyo for email. Operators like that it’s free to start and shares Klaviyo’s templates and flows. Across its 10 reviews, 70% are very satisfied, and the concerns are low review volume and a big price step at the next tier.
Growave bundles reviews, loyalty and wishlists, and its six reviewers (small sample) value having them in one app:
“Integrating reviews with the loyalty program is a massive point of difference for us” (E-commerce Manager, verified ASR review)
Two of the six call it expensive. For more loyalty options, see our best Shopify loyalty apps guide.
Replacing Yotpo Subscriptions or Yotpo SMS?
We have only two reviews each for Yotpo Subscriptions and Yotpo Email & SMS, so treat these as individual accounts. The subscriptions owner who left describes the cost of a bad move:
“lost $200k in subs revenue since switching to Yotpo on Shopify” (Owner, verified ASR review)
If subscriptions are what you’re replacing, our Recharge vs Appstle vs Loop comparison covers the apps operators use most. For texting, see our best SMS marketing apps for Shopify.
Before you switch, what do operators say about moving reviews?

Moving reviews is where switches go wrong. Some operators found importing into Judge.me easy. Others hit spreadsheets that didn’t map to products and duplicates the importer missed. Going the other way, one operator’s Klaviyo Reviews export left out product URLs and IDs when they moved to Yotpo, so they fixed those by hand.
Three checks before you cancel Yotpo:
Your contract. Know your renewal date before you plan the move, especially if you signed a longer term to unlock a feature.
Google. Yotpo puts Google Seller Rating on Pro. Judge.me’s free plan lists Google reviews sync and rich snippets, and Loox’s free plan lists rich snippets. One Judge.me owner says its reviews can’t feed their Google Seller Rating, so confirm seller ratings before you move.
Syndication. If retailers show your reviews, test the new app’s syndication first. It’s the reason operators in our data choose Yotpo.
If you’d rather not run the setup yourself, shopexperts lists reviews and social proof experts who set up review apps and collection workflows.
Which Yotpo alternative fits your reason for leaving?
If your reason is | Operators in our network point to | What they warn about |
|---|---|---|
The bill grows with your orders | Judge.me | Design changes often need CSS |
You want photo and video reviews up front | Loox | Cost at higher order volumes; fewer display options |
You want reviews, loyalty and more from one vendor | Okendo (Growave, on a small sample) | Pricier tiers and upsells; more to learn |
You’re replacing Yotpo Loyalty | Smile | Branding limits; key features on higher plans |
You already run Klaviyo for email | Klaviyo Reviews | Low review volume; check exports before any later move |
You syndicate reviews to retailers | Staying on Yotpo | Cost, and contracts tied to features |
For every other category, the Shopify App Reviews hub has first-hand ratings from the same operator network.
Weighing a move off Yotpo? Review and loyalty app teams want to hear about it.
They pay operators $50 to $500 per call to learn how you picked your stack and what would make you switch. Your Yotpo story is that research.
Ratings, counts and quotes come from verified operator reviews in the app store research network, collected January 2024 to July 2026. Samples under 10 reviews are marked as small and should be read as directional.
Star ratings, listing review counts and plan prices were checked on the Shopify App Store on October 28, 2026. Most prices change with order volume, so check the listing for your own numbers before you switch. Last reviewed: October 28, 2026.
