Judge.me vs Loox vs Yotpo: An Operator's Comparison (2026)
/

Short version, because you're busy: pick Judge.me if you want the best value and reviews that just work, Loox if photo and video reviews are central to how you sell, and Yotpo only if you're an enterprise brand that needs retail syndication and has the budget for it. Most Shopify stores under $10M should start with Judge.me and never look back.
That's not a guess. We collect first-hand reviews of these apps from real Shopify operators inside app store research, 77 reviews of Judge.me, 23 of Loox, 13 of Yotpo, and the patterns are consistent enough to be useful. Here's what the operators running these apps every day actually told us.
Quick answers, if you're in a hurry
Which is cheapest? Judge.me, by a wide margin, and it's not close. Operators repeatedly describe it as affordable with a genuinely useful free tier. Yotpo is the most expensive, described again and again as steep for smaller stores.
Which has the best photo and video reviews? Loox. It's the app operators reach for specifically when visual social proof is the point. Every Loox review in our data rated it Very Satisfied.
Which do people switch away from, and to? Several operators told us they moved from Yotpo or Stamped to Judge.me to cut cost while keeping core functionality. We saw very few going the other direction.
Which review app is best for most Shopify stores?
Judge.me, for the large majority. It's the value pick, and the operator data is close to emphatic: of 77 Judge.me reviews in our network, 66 rated it Very Satisfied and 72 still actively use it.
The words operators use are strikingly consistent: affordable, easy, reliable. One owner called it "the best review app in the App Store." Another summed up the whole appeal in a line: "it just works, and it works well, at a great price point." A third, who'd tried several, said it had "by far the highest rate of people responding to the asks for reviews."
It's not flawless, and the operators are honest about that. The recurring gripe is customization: several noted that deeper styling "requires coding know-how," and a few found the back-end dashboard overwhelming at first. If pixel-perfect design control without touching code is your top priority, that's the tradeoff. For everyone else, the value is hard to argue with.
When is Loox the better pick?
When photos and video are how your products sell. Loox is the visual-first choice, and its operator data is the most lopsided of the three: all 23 Loox reviews in our network rated it Very Satisfied.
Operators consistently praise the aesthetics and the polish. One called the app's performance and accessibility "far superior compared to its competitors." Another, an ecommerce manager, said it "just works" and that the photo and video reviews "add real social proof without feeling gimmicky." The automated review requests, timed to fire days after delivery, come up again and again as a favorite.
The honest downside is price and, like Judge.me, customization limits without code. A few operators flagged it as "a little pricey," especially for bigger stores, and wished for more display options out of the box. But nobody in our data regretted it. If your brand lives on visual proof, apparel, beauty, anything where seeing the product on a real customer matters, Loox earns its keep.
Is Yotpo worth the price?
Only if you're operating at a scale that needs what it uniquely does: deep retail syndication, enterprise support reps, and reviews pushed out to channels like Walmart and Google Shopping. For that specific job, operators rate it well, 11 of 13 Very Satisfied, and all 13 still use it, which tells you the brands that need Yotpo really do stick with it.
The praise is real but specific. Operators highlighted responsive reps, strong syndication, and dedicated customer success managers. One said their Yotpo team "customized anything for us, at no fee."
But the criticism is loud and it's almost always the same word: expensive. Operators called it "extremely expensive compared to other platforms" and "steep for smaller stores." Two structural complaints came up repeatedly: the app runs on an external site rather than being embedded in Shopify, and its script can load late, causing layout shift you have to work around. And the honest worst-case matters for balance, one long-time owner described a multi-week outage as the low point of a decades-long career. That's one experience, not the norm, but it's the kind of risk that comes with a heavier platform.
The through-line: Yotpo is built for enterprise, and enterprise brands are happy with it. Smaller stores paying enterprise prices for features they don't use are the ones who churn, usually toward Judge.me.
So which should you actually install?
Match the app to your real bottleneck, not the longest feature list.
If you want reviews that work reliably at the best price, and that's most stores, install Judge.me. If visual, photo-and-video social proof is core to how you sell, install Loox. If you're an enterprise brand that genuinely needs retail syndication and has the budget, Yotpo is defensible. And if you're currently on Yotpo or Stamped feeling the price, know that a lot of operators in our data made exactly that switch to Judge.me and didn't look back.
One rule for all three: don't run two review apps at once. We saw operators with conflicting widgets and duplicate schema from overlapping apps, the same stack-bloat trap that hurts SEO. Pick one, commit, and move on.
