Direct-to-consumer is a game of unit economics. You pay to acquire a customer, so the whole app stack exists to do one thing: earn that acquisition cost back and then keep earning from the same customer. The best DTC stack maps to the growth loop — acquire, convert, retain, and lift LTV — not to a feature checklist. This is the stack DTC operators actually run, ranked and rated on our own network data and organized by where each app sits in that loop.
Every rating below comes from first-hand reviews left by real Shopify operators inside app store research, not App Store star averages. Our sample is smaller than the App Store's, so read it as a signal on top of an app's broader reputation, not a replacement for it.
How we rate: Each app shows the percentage of operators in our network who rated it "Very Satisfied" and the percentage who still actively use it, alongside the number of reviews behind that score. We don't convert to stars. A small sample with honest concerns tells you more than a five-star average built from thousands of incentivized reviews.

No DTC brand runs all ten. You build the loop in order: measure acquisition first, win the conversion, then invest everything you can in retention and LTV — because that's where DTC economics are actually won.
Acquire: measure before you spend

DTC lives or dies on CAC, and you can't manage what you can't measure. Triple Whale consolidates spend, ROAS, LTV, and CAC across channels so you know which acquisition actually pays back. The first app a serious DTC brand installs isn't an ad tool — it's the one that tells the truth about the ad tools.

How to build your DTC stack (in loop order)
You don't need all ten on day one. Build the loop in sequence:
Acquire: Install Triple Whale first. Until you can see true CAC and blended ROAS, every other spending decision is a guess.
Convert: Add a reviews app (Loox for visual proof, Judge.me for value) so paid traffic converts, and Rebuy to lift first-order AOV against your CAC.
Retain: Klaviyo is non-negotiable — it's how you monetize a customer past the first order. Add Gorgias so support doesn't churn them back out.
LTV: Recharge if your product is consumable, Smile to reward repeat purchase, and a dedicated SMS tool (Attentive) once email alone caps out.
The mistake we see most in DTC: pouring money into acquisition apps while the retention side of the loop is thin. DTC economics are won after the first order, not before it — the brands that last spend proportionally more on retain and LTV than on acquire. Build the back half of the loop as seriously as the front.

Run one of these apps in your DTC brand? App teams pay to hear why. Every app on this list wants to know what made a real operator pick it, keep it, or drop it. Shopify app teams pay operators $50 to $500 per call for exactly that. Turn your stack decisions into paid conversations. Get paid to share your operator view →
