The data behind this page: 35 operator reviews of five Shopify sales channel apps: TikTok (12), Google & YouTube (11), Shopify Marketplace Connect (5), Pinterest (4) and Facebook & Instagram (3) · 43% very satisfied · 89% still using. All from verified operators in our network, February 2024 to September 2026.
Switching on a Shopify sales channel takes a few clicks. Getting orders out of it is where operators’ experiences part ways. Google & YouTube is the channel our network leans on hardest: all 11 reviewers still use it and five call it critical. TikTok draws the most reviews and the widest spread, from strong early growth to almost no sales.
Here’s what operators say about each of the five channels, what each costs to run, and what to sort out before you add one. Pinterest, Marketplace Connect and Facebook & Instagram have five or fewer reviews each, so for those you’ll read individual experiences rather than ratings.
Quick answers
What are Shopify sales channels? They’re the apps that connect your Shopify catalog to other places people shop: social platforms, Google and marketplaces. Each one syncs your products from Shopify to the platform. TikTok and Marketplace Connect also bring orders placed there back into your Shopify admin.
Which sales channel do operators rely on most? Google & YouTube. All 11 of its reviewers still use it, five rate it critical and five are very satisfied. All three Facebook & Instagram reviewers are very satisfied, but three reviews are too few to rank.
Is TikTok Shop worth it for a Shopify store? Operators are split. Of 12 TikTok reviews, four are very satisfied, five neutral and three not satisfied. They praise the reach and the audience. The complaints are setup and turning views into sales.
Do Shopify sales channels cost money? All five apps are free to install. Google, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest bill ad spend to your own ad accounts when you run campaigns. Marketplace Connect is free for the first 50 marketplace-synced orders a month, then charges 1% per synced order, capped at $99 a month, on top of each marketplace’s own seller fees.
How do I sell on Amazon from Shopify? Shopify’s own app for it is Marketplace Connect, formerly Codisto, which connects Amazon, Target Plus, Walmart and eBay. Our five reviewers like running several marketplaces from one admin, but two have stopped using it, one over glitches and one over Target Plus.
How do operators rate each Shopify sales channel?
Channel | Reviews in our network | Very satisfied | Still using | Critical to their job | App Store rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Google & YouTube | 11 | 5 | 11 | 5 | 4.5 (5,593 reviews) |
TikTok | 12 | 4 | 10 | 1 | 4.8 (15,985 reviews) |
4 | 2 | 4 | 2 | 4.1 (1,706 reviews) | |
Shopify Marketplace Connect | 5 | 1 | 3 | 4 | 4.1 (2,135 reviews) |
Facebook & Instagram | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3.9 (5,817 reviews) |
Two rows pull in opposite directions. TikTok has the highest App Store rating of the five and the most divided reviews in our network, while Facebook & Instagram has the lowest store rating and three very satisfied operators. Store ratings come from any merchant who leaves one. Ours come from operators asked how the channel performs for their business.

What do operators say about Google & YouTube?
Google & YouTube is Google’s own channel app. It syncs products, deals and shipping to Merchant Center, runs Performance Max campaigns across Search and YouTube, and includes Product Studio for AI product images. It’s free to install, ad spend is billed to your Google Ads account, and the listing shows 4.5 stars from 5,593 reviews.
It’s the channel our operators stick with longest. All 11 still use it, five have run it for over three years, and six point to how it keeps their catalog in step with Merchant Center, Google Ads, Analytics or their Business Profile.
“Keeps your catalog feed constantly updated.” (Owner, verified ASR review)
Most complaints are about Google itself. Two owners describe product rejections or account problems they couldn’t get a person at Google to explain. Two find it hard to learn; one says it takes a lot of prior knowledge. Another finds the updated reporting hard to analyze and the push into Performance Max limiting.
“Zero customer support, lots of glitches and product rejection.” (Owner, verified ASR review)
The newest review, from September 2026, covers the upkeep. A marketer values the free listings, which add visibility without ad spend, but says product titles and attributes drift, promo prices need updating by hand, and Google’s policy changes keep adding to-dos.
“Keeping the feed clean takes more work than it should.” (Marketing, verified ASR review)
Two more raise sync and scale: one waits for Merchant Center discrepancies to clear, and an e-commerce manager in a Shopify Plus organization has trouble scaling it across many sites. If Merchant Center keeps flagging your products, shopexperts lists Google & YouTube experts who work on feeds and account issues.
What do operators say about TikTok?
TikTok’s app covers both TikTok Ads and TikTok Shop. It adds the TikTok Pixel, builds ads from your own images and videos, and lets you manage TikTok Shop orders and inventory in your Shopify admin. It’s free to install, ad spend goes to your TikTok ad account, and the listing shows 4.8 stars from 15,985 reviews.
It’s also the channel our operators disagree on most. Of 12 reviews, four are very satisfied, five neutral and three not satisfied, and only one calls it critical. Six praise the reach, the audience or how well video carries a product.
“There was a lot of initial growth that we were happy with!” (E-commerce Manager, verified ASR review)
Turning reach into orders is the hard part. Three describe little or no return from the channel, and two blame an algorithm they can’t predict. Ads bring their own friction: one e-commerce manager struggles to run ads without rejections in their product category, and another finds TikTok’s analytics thinner than Facebook’s or Google’s.
“The conversion rate was close to zero.” (Customer Service, verified ASR review)
Six raise setup or the app itself. One owner had to link separate TikTok for Business, TikTok Shop and TikTok Ads accounts, another was still sorting out the store eight months in, and a third finds syncing each listing slow work. Two have stopped using it: the reviewer who saw almost no conversions, and a marketer who says it adds little beyond the pixel.
The newest reviewer launched a TikTok Shop from zero in 2026. For them, the Shopify connection works best, with orders arriving as their own sales channel. Approval was the hard part: one product line was blocked over its packaging, and numbers like the shop performance score stay in Seller Center, so they check two places.
“Getting approved was the hardest part.” (Marketing, verified ASR review)
For help with Seller Center and catalog sync, shopexperts lists TikTok Shop experts.
What do operators say about Facebook & Instagram?
Facebook & Instagram is Meta’s official app. It syncs eligible products to your Facebook and Instagram shop, sets up a conversion pixel and sells from one inventory across both. It’s free to install, ad spend is billed to your Facebook ad account, and the listing shows 3.9 stars from 5,817 reviews.
We have three reviews, so read them as examples. All three operators are very satisfied, still use it and call it critical. The praise is about the connection itself:
“It perfectly integrates Meta with our Shopify site” (Owner, verified ASR review)
An e-commerce manager values the ad account connection and real-time data but found the Facebook page setup hard. Another owner names the risk every social channel shares: algorithms and policies that change, and ad campaigns that get costly. shopexperts lists Facebook & Instagram experts for catalog and pixel setup.

What do operators say about Pinterest?
Pinterest’s app publishes Product Pins, updates your catalog every day and adds the Pinterest Tag. It’s free to install, Pinterest charges only when you buy ads, and the listing mentions ad credits when you launch a first campaign. It shows 4.1 stars from 1,706 reviews.
All four of our Pinterest reviewers still use it, and two call it critical. For one owner, it’s the main source of visitors:
“Currently, 90% of my traffic is from them.” (Owner, verified ASR review)
Visitors and sales aren’t the same thing, though. One owner says it’s great for exposure but not always for sales, another didn’t find the pin option on listings helped sales much, and an owner who installed it five years ago sometimes loses traffic when the algorithm changes.
What do operators say about Shopify Marketplace Connect?
Marketplace Connect, formerly Codisto, is Shopify’s own app for selling on Amazon, Target Plus, Walmart and eBay from your Shopify admin. The first 50 marketplace-synced orders each month are free, then it charges 1% per synced order, capped at $99 a month. The listing shows 4.1 stars from 2,135 reviews.
Four of our five reviewers call it critical, yet two have stopped using it. The praise is about running several marketplaces from one place, and one e-commerce manager says syncing Amazon inventory and orders helps the whole operation:
“helps not only me but our shipping and receiving departments as well” (E-commerce Manager, verified ASR review)
The problems are glitches and edge cases. One owner left after connections to global Amazon marketplaces broke without them noticing. Another left after a year and a half without a working Target Plus connection, though they say it works well with Walmart, eBay and Etsy. Others mention duplicate listings, slow listing management and prices updated by hand.
shopexperts lists Marketplace Connect specialists, and its guide to inventory that isn’t syncing covers the stock side.

Which Shopify sales channel fits what you need?
If you want | Channel | What operators flag |
|---|---|---|
Products in front of people searching on Google | Google & YouTube | Product rejections, little human support, a learning curve |
Reach through short video | TikTok | Setup across several TikTok accounts; reach that doesn’t always convert |
Ads and a shop on Facebook and Instagram | Facebook & Instagram | Page setup; changing algorithms and ad costs |
Steady traffic from people browsing ideas | Exposure that converts unevenly | |
Amazon, Walmart, eBay or Target Plus from one admin | Shopify Marketplace Connect | Glitches, duplicate listings, manual pricing |
What should you sort out before adding a sales channel?

The same few jobs come up across every channel in our reviews:
Time for setup, not only the install. Setup comes up for TikTok, Google & YouTube and Facebook & Instagram, from separate TikTok accounts to Google steps that need prior knowledge.
A clean catalog. Google rejections and feed upkeep, a TikTok product line blocked at approval, Marketplace Connect duplicates and slow TikTok listing work are all catalog problems operators describe. Tidy product data in Shopify before you sync it anywhere.
Who supports what. Operators describe no human help from Google, a support team that couldn’t fix Target Plus, and missing support on TikTok. Each platform supports its own side of the channel, so know where to go before something breaks.
Sales, not views. TikTok and Pinterest reviewers both separate reach from orders. Judge a channel on the orders and revenue it brings into Shopify.
Marketplace pricing. One Marketplace Connect user can’t set a percentage markup and changes prices by hand. If marketplace fees mean different prices per channel, test that before you list your full range.
To see where sales channels sit among the rest of your apps, use our Shopify app stack audit as a checklist or read the Shopify app satisfaction report. Every channel above has its own page in Shopify App Reviews with the full operator reviews.
Selling on more than one channel? Platform teams want to hear how it’s going.
Commerce and ad platforms pay $50 to $500 for each call, and they want to know which channels earn a place in a real store. Your channel mix and what it took to set up are the research.
Figures and quotes come from 35 reviews by verified operators, collected by app store research between February 2024 and September 2026. Four thin reviews are left out: one rated TikTok as a social app rather than a Shopify sales channel, and three give no real assessment of the channel. Channels with five or fewer reviews are described through individual experiences, not ratings.
We checked every listing’s rating, review count and pricing on November 3, 2026. Ad costs and marketplace fees depend on your budgets and each platform’s terms. Last reviewed: November 3, 2026.
