How Relevant Bits avoids costly mistakes and meet Shopify merchants needs
Discover how Relevant Bits, a Shopify app for personalized theme sections, addressed the challenge of finding the right audience for user studies. By using AppStoreResearch, they efficiently targeted specific groups like brands or agencies, ensuring participants had relevant expertise.

"We have really loved the service. Especially now that we can have our team involved in a single account. We have also found the participants are almost as eager as we are to chat."

Building apps can be expensive. Especially if you build the wrong things.
We've run a number of studies. We've conducted interviews with merchants to understand if there are opportunities to build personalization APIs for headless environments, and to understand whether Relevant Bits' current features and benefits meet the needs of agencies and brands on Shopify.
In the past many of our interviews were sourced by 1-to-1 outreach (very time consuming and costly). We'd often use platforms like LinkedIn. We'd also ask for recommendations from folks in the Shopify space.
"Our biggest challenge was always trying to find an audience that matched our ideal client profile (ICP)."
Solution
What we loved about app store research is the simple ability to filter audiences down based on the needs of the study.
Sometimes we need to talk to brands, other times it's agencies. Sometimes we need to ensure the people we're talking to have specific knowledge in an area like "headless" or "APIs". Having the ability to ask qualifying questions is a game changer.
Key Advantages of app store research
Ability to filter audiences based on study needs
Target specific groups such as brands or agencies
Qualify participants with specific knowledge (e.g., "headless" or "APIs")
Ask qualifying questions for precise participant selection
Single account access for team collaboration
Efficient distribution of participants among team members
Engaged and eager participants for discussions
Results
We have really loved the service. Especially now that we can have our team involved in a single account.
For example, we recently ran a study that had participants being distributed between 3 team members. This collaborative approach not only streamlined our process but also enriched the quality of our analysis. We have also found the participants are almost as eager as we are to chat.
