AI SUMMARY

Head of Ecommerce at Holloways of Ludlow (specialist retailer of lighting, furniture and homewares for homeowners, interior designers and architects, through showrooms and online), hybrid between the new Cotswolds base near Carterton, the showrooms and home. You lead the ecommerce strategy and trading on Shopify Plus: merchandising, UX, content, promotions, conversion and AOV, pricing and stock accuracy with buying and operations, and SEO, paid media and Klaviyo email. The posting singles out three areas: building and leading a remote team including offshore staff, getting the most from external agencies with industry-leading PPC and affiliate expertise, and building AI tools that give the team new capabilities. Fit if you have: experience leading ecommerce for a retail or consumer brand with responsibility for a team, revenue, profit and agencies, strong trading and CRO, Shopify Plus and Google Analytics, and digital marketing across SEO, paid search, paid social and email (homewares or design-led retail is a plus). Salary not stated.

Company Description Holloways of Ludlow is a specialist retailer known for high-quality lighting, furniture, and homewares, offering a curated selection of contemporary and classic designs. The company serves design-conscious customers, including homeowners, interior designers, and architects, through both showroom and online channels. With a strong focus on craftsmanship, aesthetics, and customer service, Holloways of Ludlow aims to provide exceptional products and buying experiences. The business is growing its digital presence and investing in ecommerce to better meet customer needs and expand its market reach.

Role Description We are looking for a motivated, driven and highly experienced Ecommerce Manager to continue to drive our growth. The role will be hybrid, with time spent at our new base in the Cotswolds, just West of Oxford, time in our showrooms and work from home. Strong ecommerce foundations are, of course, essential as is excellence in three main areas:

  • Managing and building a remote team including offshoring. Leadership and excellence required in all areas to grow, develop and inspire a team whilst helping drive value for the business.

  • Significant experience managing external agencies whilst have the deep subject expertise to ensure we are maximising every pound spent. PPC and affiliate expertise needs to be industry leading.

  • Demonstrated expertise building and developing AI tools. Must see the potential to use AI to give the team and the extra capabilities and the business a competitive advantage.

This role oversees the ecommerce strategy, including site merchandising, user experience, content, and promotional campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand positioning and commercial goals. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing website performance, analyzing data and customer behavior, optimizing conversion and average order value, and coordinating with marketing, buying, and operations teams to keep product information, pricing, and stock accurate. The role leads and develops the ecommerce team, manages relationships with digital agencies and technology providers, and ensures the site is optimized for SEO, paid media, and email marketing. The Head of Ecommerce also monitors competitors, identifies growth opportunities, and drives continuous improvement across the digital customer journey.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading ecommerce operations for a retail or consumer brand, including responsibility for a significant ecommerce team, online revenues and profit, external agencies and performance metrics.

  • Strong skills in ecommerce trading, merchandising, and conversion rate optimization, with the ability to plan and execute promotional calendars.

  • Leading experience working with Shopify Plus and all relevant analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)

  • Knowledge of digital marketing channels such as SEO, paid search, paid social, email marketing (Klaviyo), and onsite personalisation, and how they support ecommerce growth.

  • Ability to interpret data, build performance reports, and translate insights into clear actions that improve customer experience and commercial results.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including team management, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder communication at senior level.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and a focus on accurate product information and brand consistency.

  • Experience in homewares, furniture, lighting, or a design-led retail environment is an advantage, as is familiarity with trade and consumer customer segments.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, marketing, ecommerce, or a related discipline.
