AI SUMMARY

Front End Web Developer at Carpe (fast-growing US deodorant brand with a team of about 30), on-site in downtown Durham, NC, reporting to the VP of Ecommerce. You design it and you build it: your first 90 days are a home page redesign tested against the current one, and after that every landing page, funnel and on-site experience runs through you. You design in Figma, build in HTML, CSS and JavaScript on the Shopify storefront (Liquid is taught), ship with AI coding tools like Cursor or Claude Code, run the testing programme and make the final call on what ships, with input from the head of ecommerce and a conversion consultant. Fit if you have: designed and shipped webpages yourself, run A/B tests on a live site, a portfolio with real numbers, mobile-first building and experience with AI coding tools (years of Liquid and owning a testing programme stand out). Salary not stated. Benefits: health, vision and dental insurance, flexible PTO. Apply by email only, with a personal paragraph not written by AI, a resume and a portfolio page you built with the number it moved.

Department: Ecommerce

Reports To: VP of Ecommerce

Location: On site, Durham, NC

To Apply

Email jess@mycarpe.com with three things: a paragraph in your own words, not written by AI, on why you are the right person for this; a PDF of your resume; and a link to your portfolio. In the portfolio, point us to one page you designed and built yourself, and tell us the number it moved. Applying by email is the only way to be considered.

About Carpe

Carpe is the fastest growing deodorant brand in the US. Our team is composed of about 30 insanely smart people working together in person in downtown Durham, NC. Our office is rather open with many private niches, and our energy level is HIGH.

About the Role

You design it and you build it. This role owns how Carpe's website looks, feels and performs, with AI tools, and you see the revenue. Our site runs on Shopify. You do not need to have used it. You need to have built webpages yourself and shipped them.

Your first 90 days: redesign the home page and test it against the one we have. After that, every landing page, funnel and on site experience runs through you. You design it in Figma, you build it in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, you ship it, you watch how people actually use it, and you test the next version. Most of our traffic is mobile, so you build for the phone first.

You will have strong input from the head of our ecommerce business and from a conversion consultant we work with. Both will have opinions and research. You make the final call on what ships, and you own the result.

We use AI heavily here and we expect you to. You ship your own designs with Cursor, Claude Code or whatever you work fastest in, and you get faster every month.

What You Will Do

· Redesign the home page and test it in your first 90 days

· Design, build and ship landing pages, funnels and on site experiences that lift conversion

· Own the front end of our storefront in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with our senior developer beside you at first and less over time. It is Shopify, and we will teach you Liquid

· Run the testing program: frame the test, build it, launch it, read the result, ship the winner

· Watch session recordings and let what people actually do drive what you build next

· Keep every page pixel clean on every screen size, mobile first

· Maintain the design system so the site stays consistent as it grows

· Catch your own broken states, slow loads and misaligned copy before a customer does

What We Are Looking For

· You have designed and built webpages yourself and shipped them, not handed them off

· You have run A/B tests on a live site and can tell us what you learned

· You have a portfolio of site work with real numbers behind it

· You ship your own designs with AI coding tools

· You build mobile first and it shows

· You have taste, and you can explain why something works

· You want to own the result, not just the design

· You take input well and still make the call

· You want to be exceptional at this, not just good at it

What Makes You Stand Out

· You come from a DTC brand or a conversion focused ecommerce team

· You have worked in Liquid and Shopify themes for years, not months

· You have owned a testing program, not just contributed to one

· You care about page speed and accessibility without being asked

Why This Role

This is the surface where design meets revenue. You will have direct influence over how every customer experiences Carpe, the freedom to build and ship the ideas that move it, and a scoreboard you can read every morning.

What You Will Get

· Health, vision and dental

· Flexible PTO

· A front row seat to the growth of one of the most disruptive brands in body care
