What exceeded expectations
I love the integration with Klaviyo! I've been able to leverage both apps for some of my clients (I also freelance helping merchants with their Klaviyo strategy and setup). I also appreciate that they have a Free option that does a surprising amount to offer rewards for my customers.
What was disappointing
I think offering a paid tier option for the micro businesses. However, I will say of most of the rewards apps out there, smile.io is decently priced and offers a lot.

The customer service team has been phenomenal when I have had any issues!
What was disappointing
It isn’t possible to exclude orders from the total count even if the customers have been excluded from the rewards program. However, their customer success team has been very generous is working with us on this issue!

It isn’t possible to exclude orders from the total count even if the customers have been excluded from the rewards program. However, their customer success team has been very generous is working with us on this issue!

I’ve been impressed by how easy it is to set up points programs, referral incentives, and tiered rewards without needing complex coding. The app’s customization options allow the loyalty program to match the store’s branding and provide a seamless experience for customers. Additionally, the reporting and analytics give clear insights into program performance, including engagement rates and the impact on repeat purchases. Overall, Smile has exceeded expectations in driving customer retention and creating meaningful incentives that positively influence long-term revenue.
What was disappointing
While Smile is powerful and flexible, the initial setup for more complex reward structures can be a bit time-consuming, especially for stores with multiple product lines or tiered programs. Some options, like combining referral and points campaigns in a single flow, could be more intuitive. If I could improve one thing, it would be to simplify the setup and management of advanced reward programs, making it quicker to implement and easier to adjust campaigns on the fly. This would allow merchants to launch and optimize loyalty initiatives faster and reduce the learning curve for teams managing the program.
